    does the sun have a core?

    Aaron,

    The Sun does have a core, but it's not a solid core.  It is so EXTREMELY dense and hot (so hot that it keeps it from being a solid), that it presses particles together and causes fusion.  This process is responsible for all of the energy coming from the Sun- it is incredibly energetic (a much smaller version of this process is the atomic bomb).
