    How do you do it?

What do you have to do to become a scientist in either learning about the Sun or becoming a astrounaunt in space? What kind of diplomas would you have to get? Also do you have to make sacrifices in life to become a scientist like you people are???

    Hi Cody
To become a scientist you have to study hard, especially in math and science, but in other subjects as well. In addition to majoring in science or math in college (to study the Sun, physics is a good major), scientists go to graduate school, usually for another five or six years for a PhD (a "Doctor of Philosophy") degree. During that time you actually get to do scientific research.

As with other demanding careers you have to work hard, which involves sacrifices - there isn't always time to do all the other things you might want.  You are also sometimes limited in where you can live - you can't necessarily just pick your favorite city and find a job there. That said, it can be very interesting and exciting so most scientists would say it is worth some sacrifice.

Some astronauts have similar background, although being chosen to become an astronaut is much harder than getting a regular scientist job. Many astronauts have backgrounds as pilots, too.
Here is a web site about becoming an astronaut:

    cheers,

Hi -- I've got some posts in some of the other threads that if I could figure out how to, I'd cut & paste together to help form a reply....take a look-see if you're interested.
