HOW DOES THE SUN WORK? D?OES IT HAVE HAIR

    Re: SUN

The Sun is a complicated system of many processes taking place that produce a lot of energy.  At the very center of the Sun protons are squeezed so tightly together that they form new atoms and release an enormous amount of energy in doing so.  This energy is in the form of light, and it travels from the center of the Sun to the surface over a long period of time.  Once it reaches the surface, that light can then travel easily through space toward the Earth and the other planets.  The Sun also has regions where there is a sort of "boiling" motion going on and regions where large magnetic fields are all twisted around, processes that also transfer energy- it is very dynamic!  The Sun doesn't have hair, but it does have magnetic fields that stick out from the surface that may look like hair when scientists falsely reproduce them in pictures.  We can't really see these magnetic fields sticking out from the Sun, but we can computer generate them to estimate what they look like.

Hope this helps answer your question!
