Has an eclipse of  the sun been viewed from the moon, or photographed?

    Re: eclipses

Not yet! But it will happen someday -- of course an eclipse of the Sun as viewed from the moon happens when the Earth blocks the Sun. It corresponds to a lunar eclipse as viewed from the Earth. A very nice web site that explains and describes this phenomenon and considers what it would be like from the Moon's point of view can be found at

    cheers,

    Re: eclipses from the Moon

Movies of eclipses have been made using weather satellites in Earth orbit.

We have created a planetarium show "Earth's Wild Ride" that shows just what a total eclipse as seen on Earth would look like from the Moon. (On the Moon you will see the shadow crossing the Earth). You can download free a low-resolution version of the show by going to: http://earth.rice.edu/shows/EWR/ and click on "quicktime of show". Of course, to really see the show, you need to be in one of our immersive theaters. It is showing in several cities around the country (Houston, Portland, Pittsburgh, Baton Rouge), and now available in our portable domes to go to schools.
