    Re: burning sun

     Hi Jeff,

Actually the Sun doesn't really burn - at least not in the sense of a fire burning.  At the core of the Sun a reaction called nuclear fusion is taking place which causes hydrogen atoms to smash together, stick and form helium.  This process releases a bunch of energy which then heats the surrounding gas and makes the Sun glow and radiate heat.

    Best,

    Christina
